Our Daily Bread

Our Daily Bread Needs You!

Old shirts needed. Our Daily Bread needs some used men’s shirts, the bigger the better. Guests who come to eat in tank tops are asked to put on a shirt with sleeves while they are eating—which is returned after the meal. They desperately need some more shirts. Can be T-shirts or any men’s shirt, any size, as long as it’s clean and serviceable. Give to Alex or Ruth Richardson.

Their recent newsletter states that Our Daily Bread, fed 89,000 meals in 2011 and an average of  7,000 meals a month for the first quarter of 2012.  They are in need of some additional help now, as many of their volunteers are winter residents who have gone home. They need salad preparers and people to work on the serving line.  If you can help, you can call them at 745-2992. Or talk to Bill and Sue Wait or Don and Julie Lind who are regular volunteers there. Your support is appreciated.

Snack bags for kids

Our Daily Bread is seeking snack foods (healthy items like raisins, granola bars, peanut butter or cheese crackers etc) for children who are becoming a more common sight at this feeding facility for the needy and homeless.  These snacks are mainly for summer and holidays – when school is not in session.  There is a box in Lowe Hall for your contributions.
